Hello MASS DECA, my name is Dan Consigli, and I will be serving on your State Action team for the 2011-2012 DECA year. I am a senior at Nipmuc Regional High School in Upton. I have been a DECA member for two years, and these past two years have been great. I am the President of my class, student representative on my town’s school committee, and a member of my school’s DECA Executive Board. My success at my high school carries over into my success with DECA. In my free time, I like to play basketball, listen to all sorts of music and read. My favorite television show is The Colbert Report.
This upcoming year will be my third in DECA. As a sophomore, I was inspired to run for State Office, and this past year I ran and was voted in. I can never stop thanking all of the members of DECA for electing me to this position. The support I received from my chapter and advisor Gary Perras was unbelievably helpful, and they deserve a lot of credit for the hard work they gave. I am very excited to begin working with the State Action team to begin work on the conferences and make any improvements we can to MASS DECA.
DECA has proved that hard work pays off. As a freshman, a few friends of mine convinced me to join DECA, and I am glad that I followed their advice. DECA gives real world competition experience, and I would be a difference person if I did not join. Because of this, I cannot wait to serve MASS DECA thus year and bring DECA to its potential!
