Hello MASS DECA, my name is Nick Aliquo and I am beyond excited to serve as a MASS DECA State Officer for the 2011-2012 year. I have been involved with this incredible program since my sophomore year at Stoughton High School. Taking my first business class and signing up for DECA were two of the smartest decisions I have ever made. Since that day, I’ve been very active in my chapter serving as one of Stoughton’s own Chapter Officers. My first year in DECA I competed with a partner in Hotel and Lodging Management and although we did not qualify past Districts, I was chosen to be a part of my schools very own Quiz Bowl team and that itself was a very rewarding experience. Although my first year in DECA was not as successful as I hoped, I wouldn’t have changed a thing.
Erica Melito, who is now a student at Northeastern, was a State Officer in 2009-2010. After seeing her tremendous passion and the way her and Team 51 led the state, it made me want to run for office. Being elected to serve on Team 53 and hearing my name announced at the 2011 SCDC was one the most exhilarating and remarkable moments of my life. Already being close with my team, I cannot wait until we fully start serving our state by making this fantastic organization even better.
While in DECA, I am a part of many other clubs and sports including Peer Mediation, Student Council, S.A.D.D., Recycling club, Track and Basketball. When I graduate high school, I hope to attend a university and major in business and eventually attend law school. Many people would describe me as a very dedicated, charismatic, funny and friendly person. DECA has been an experience I would never trade and I can’t wait to instill the passion the team has into all of you. |
